Getting Organized- 28 weeks

Being off work I've had the opportunity to get organized around the house. I packed up the winter clothes in my dresser, straightened up my shoes and began organizing the baby's clothes by type and size. After putting her clothes in the little containers I realized that she didn't have ensembles, so I hightailed it to Carter's and took advantage of their $5.99 sale.

We also put together our new baby swing and we love it! It has womb, nature and lullaby sounds, and if that's not enough, it also has a a port to plug in your MP3 player.

Along with all that we attended breastfeeding class last week and just this morning I ordered the wooden letters the will spell out the baby's name above the crib. I got them from alphabetboutique.com after a lady on the message board I frequent recommended them. I can't wait till they arrive!

I also went in to the doctor last week and once again, I have gained a tremendous amount of weight in only 4 weeks. I had my Gestational Diabetes test and with all the weight I've gained the doctor is concerned, but he didn't call me with any alarming results so maybe I'm really just a cow after all. In two weeks I'll be going in for another ultrasound to check my placenta as well as the baby's weight. Hopefully my placenta is where it's supposed to be and the baby isn't too big. I want to be able to get her out!

The Baby Whisperer-27 weeks

I am now 27 weeks and as I close out the second trimester I am beginning to think about what life will be like when the baby actually gets here. I really don't want to make the same mistakes I did with Cameron and DJ. I am outlawing two major things: #1 co-sleeping and #2 using a bottle to make the baby fall asleep. Co-sleeping is a slippery slope that, at least for me, was hard to break DJ and Cameron from once they were a few months old. And letting a baby fall asleep with a bottle has cost Damon and I hundreds of dollars in dental bills and Cameron a lot of tears and trauma.

So in an effort to do things right the third time around, I went out to B & N and picked up Secrets of the Baby Whisperer.

I'm already on chapter two and so far the book is pretty informative, even to a seasoned mommy like myself. I can't wait till the baby is born so we can try all the tips and tricks the author writes about. I am hopeful that the E.A.S.Y. system will work for us. But only time will tell.

This morning we took the boys to their 6 month dental check-up. As usual DJ was the model patient, letting the hygenist take the necessary x-rays and getting his teeth cleaned like a pro.

Cameron, on the other hand, acted as if someone was trying to kill him. He screamed and cried and acted like it was the end of the world. His dad had to hold him down and to say thanks, Cameron gave him a swift kick in the ribs.

After all that, both Cameron and DJ got a clean bill of dental health and won't have to go back until December.

Baby Showers-26 weeks 5 days

This past week I was lucky enough to have 2 wonderful showers thrown for me. The first, on Friday (although filled with a ton of drama that I won't even explain) was a work shower. There, we played games, ate lots of delicious food and I got so many gifts that they would barely fit into the car.

On Saturday I had a more low key shin dig with a few friends from work at the local Red Lobster. My principal even showed up and paid for everyones meal! I had a great time and can't believe how generous and thoughtful everyone has been.

A few other friends are planning a co-ed shower/bar-b-que in July and I can't wait for that one either. I'm sure it will be just as wonderful.

Baby Makes 6???- 26 weeks

This weekend was another busy one, and I am exhausted as a result. On Friday, after DJ's Kindergarten graduation:

we picked up cousin Kayla, who's 5, to spend the weekend with us. It was part of my experiment to see if I had the mental and emotional ability to handle three children. Having her over was a breeze! And it was nice to finally have someone else in the house who wore pink. I was even able to wash and comb her hair. My middle part was crooked, but with more practice I'll get better.

Both Damon and I really wanted to keep her. Could baby make 6? Probably not, we're not rich, but Kayla was great to have over and she'll definitely be spending more time at our house this summer.

With three kids in the house, Damon and I made sure that our weekend was jammed packed with activities to keep them busy. On Friday afternoon we visited the Splash Playground. Saturday, we all went to the park and saw Kung Fu Panda (which is pretty funny by the way). And on Sunday, we braved the heat and made our way to Wayne State's campus and the Detroit Festival of the Arts where Damon, Cameron and Kayla made hats, bracelets, shakers, and even took a picture with "Captain Jack Sparrow" from Pirates of the Caribbean!

Check out the slide show of our fun filled weekend...

Almost Finished- 25 weeks

Last weekend was quite busy. On Friday it was Ladies Night with dinner and a movie, Saturday after Damon got home from school we took the boys to a carnival about a block away from our house and we did a little shopping afterward. On Sunday I spent time visiting with my mom and dad and fixing things in the baby's room. We're almost finished! I still have a short to do list however:
*hang wooden hooks and letters
*paint rocking chair
*replace light switch cover
*touch up paint
*and, as you can see, organize the dresser

Here are some pics of the boys enjoying the carnival...

Along with the bedding for the nursery, we also purchased a new Sony Handy-Cam. We're can now chronical our family life in video and share it with all of you. Stay tuned for clips from DJ's Kindergarten graduation next week!
