Slowly but Surely-20 weeks!

That's right folks, I'm half way to the promise land. My Picc line is officially gone and I'm back to taking my medication in pill form, instead of the glorious intravenous meds that have sustained me thus far. With me being more mobile and finally finding out the sex of the baby the Diaab-Morton clan have finally began preparing our house for the new edition.

This weekend Damon and I went to Lowe's, bought the paint, and came home and painted. Well, he painted while I slept on the couch.

We decided on 3 solid pink walls and one with pink and white stripes. It turned out better than I expected.

On Sunday, after weeks of online surfing, I finally found an old rocking chair for under $50! Using Craigslist, I found this practically brand new rocking chair for only $25. I just picked it up this afternoon and it's perfect...Well almost perfect. It's light blue and I'm not sure anyone feels like repainting it. I think I may just incorporate some blue into the crib bedding.

And lastly, we have my little darlings, DJ and Cameron. Here's what they do with a camera when your back is turned. DJ is a future photographer and Cam...a rock star?

Placenta Previa-19weeks1day

Just came home from my doctor's appointment and have some news to share. After looking at my ultrasound from yesterday he told me that I have placenta previa (where the placenta is before the baby). He told me that in most cases the placenta moves out of the way by 30 weeks, but if it doesn't I'll have to get a c-section.

I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS! The last thing I want is a c-section so I'm hoping that my placenta gets into gear and moves out the way. I guess we'll see in 11 weeks.

OMG! 19 weeks

So I went in for my anatomy ultra sound today and I ate a chocolate candy bar before I went in...

This time the baby had it's legs opened wide. It was actually moving around so much that the technician had a difficult time taking pictures of all the body parts. But, she was able to get the money shot and I am happy to announce that we are having a

GIRL!!!!!!!

I am still in shock, but there was no mistaking, those were girl parts down there.

After my appointment I hightailed it to the mall and headed straight for Children's Place and by habit went directly to the boys section. LOL. Then, once I realized who I was there to shop for, found the girl's clothes and purchased the cutest little t-shirt.

Tomorrow I'm scheduled for my normal weekly check-up. Hopefully all goes well and we can begin planning for the arrival of our little girl!

Sudafed and my Little Smarty Pants-18wks3days

I just have one thing to say...Sudafed Sucks! Somehow I have contracted what can only be described and the Ebola Virus (just kidding, it's probably just a cold) and being pregnant I am limited in cold medicines that I can take. Even with a belly full of Sudafed my throat is still on fire and my nose will not stop running and being stuffed up at the same time. I need some Thera-Flu and I need it NOW!

Any who...A few days ago I attended parent teacher conferences at DJ's school, it wasn't a huge inconvience as I work there as well. His teacher informed me that he is doing great, although he could stand to shut his mouth a bit more often. Much to my suprise, DJ has made it all the way to the 3rd grade word list and is halfway through! He also likes to write books and share them with the class. Wonder where he got the writing bug from????

Cameron is also coming right along with his alphabet recognition and phonics. He's more of a hands on, mathematic type kid so he'd much rather be building things and completing puzzles than telling me what sound the letter T makes, but we are making progress.

Mother's Intuition and Fabric-18 weeks

Or lack there of...

When I was pregnant with DJ and Cam I knew they were boys without even being told. I just had this intense feeling, but this time around, I have no idea. My natural ability to tap into this baby is completely MIA!

My anatomy ultrasound is exactly 1 week away and I'm beginning to get nervous. I want to know, but then again I don't. I'm also going to be the only one at the appointment...Damon has to work so I'm debating whether or not to have the technician write it down in a sealed envelope so that we can all find out together, or just get the news and tell everyone. Decisions, decisions!

Yesterday, Damon, the boys and I stopped by Joann Fabrics to check out some fabric for the baby's crib. When we entered the store we were both a bit overwhelmed. The store was huge and there was fabric for days. I'm so glad that we've decided to have custom made bedding because the sky really is the limit! But now, with so many choices, all my ideas have been sidelined and I now have 300 other options taking their place. All I have to do now is wait for next Tuesday to find out the gender and then I'll really get rolling.

The Baby's Room-17 weeks

I can't believe that I'm 17 weeks already! Although I feel like crap this pregnancy really seems to be flying by. I can't wait till school is out in June so that I can really relax, but until then, I have other things to occupy my brain.

This week, all my thoughts (and internet surfing time) is devoted to planning the baby's room. This time around the idea of a nursery is really exciting for me. When DJ was a baby he bunked with Damon and I and when Cameron was born he shared his space with the computer and printer, but this baby will have a space all it's own and I can finally have the nursery of my dreams.

For a girl I'm thinking pokadots with really bright colors...

And for a boy, I'm thinking of realizing my Harry Potter obsession and creating a Hogwarts nursery. I haven't discussed with Damon yet, as he thinks me liking Harry so much is ridiculous, but I will soon. I just have to get my plan ready first.

What ever the baby's gender is, I am looking forward to asking my mother and/or grandmother to sew the crib bumper and skirt. I thought it would be nice for them to have some involvement, and it will save me a lot of money.

Baby Expo-16weeks4days

Yesterday, Damon and I visited the American Faire Baby Expo with our friends over at Baby's Family who are expecting a month before we are! It was great to get together with them to talk all about our pregnancies and cath up.

At the Baby Expo Damon and I had the opportunity to see baby products that we may not have considered otherwise. As third time parents we pretty much knew what we wanted and what would work best for our needs, but things seemed to have changed within that last 3 years since Cam was born, so we had a lot of new things to look at. During our visit to the Baby Expo, we found a great travel system by Chicco that is very well-made and easy to use...

We also decided on some brand new bottles that reduce colic as well as ear infections.

I am so excited to begin shooping for this baby, but I refuse to buy anything until I know the gender. After I leave my ultrasound visit on April 22nd I'm going to go baby shopping crazy!

Boy or Girl?- 16 Weeks

Yesterday, I visited my doctor for my regular 3 week check up and also got an ultra sound. I was hoping to find out if the baby was a boy or a girl so I can finally begin shopping! However, it is clear to me that this baby does not like to cooperate. The legs we closed so tighly that you could barely see any space between them! The doctor attempted to jiggle the baby, hoping that it would change positions, and it did...crossing its ankles, making it impossible to see anything.

While it was exteremly dissapointing, all Damon and I could do was laugh. When I was pregnant with both DJ and Cameron they always had their legs open wide, but not this new addition. I seem to have a modest one on the way.

As a sidebar-DJ will no longer be joining me on my doctor's visits. He is way too smart and reads way too well. The last time we visited he began to look at the posters of babies being born and announced, "Mommy, I know how babies come out!" I told him that the doctor will cut the baby out of my tummy, that's not really true, I have never had a C-Section and hope not to this time either, but I thought the natural process was a bit advanced for a five year old.

Anyway, we'll be finding out for sure the baby's gender on April 22. I have the official anatomy ultrasound and will drink a liter of Mountain Dew if I have to to get this baby moving.
